York Mind Steering Group

Do you want to be part of the York Minds Young people Steering Group?

Who can be a part of it?

14-25 years old

Lived experience of accessing(or trying to access) mental health services – You don’t have to have gone through York Mind services or CAMHS to be part of this group.

About the group

We feed back and suggest improvements to Young Peoples Services both at York Mind and suggest how the wider system can work better for young people. It’s a very informal group that you can drop in to and have a chat about improving services whilst eating pizza. Yes this is a bribe.

We are not a support group but a supportive group – The steering group happens at the same time as the YorChoice drop in. If you need to access support, that is available too.

In the future as well we are hoping to have socials (more than the current pizza and solving the world).

How to get involved?

The steering group happens on the 2nd Thursday of the month and you can drop by to York Mind as its on at the same time as the drop in.

or if you want some more details then you can contact Helen at ypsteeringgroup@yorkmind.org.uk

Things we have been involved with recently:

  • Created a pack for GP’s about how best to talk to young people about mental health
  • 4 members of the steering have been part of the chat chit podcast
  • The design, set up of the Yorchoice drop in and this website itself
