COMIC AND YPAN
What is Comic?
We the Child Oriented Mental Health Innovation Collaborative (COMIC). We are a research team in Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We work in collaboration with children, young people, families, universities, charities and other organisations to produce child-friendly and child-focused research.
Our research is focused on children and young people’s mental health research, and so far we have carried out research in:
- Social and emotional wellbeing
- Neurodiversity (including autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
- Social prescribing, and
- The Deaf experience
Ways to be involved?
Co-production methodology is central to the work of COMIC – this means that the work we do is directed by the voices of young people, and young people are involved at every stage of the research process.
You can get involved with our research in a number of ways:
- Being a participant in research (e.g. taking part in an interview, joining a focus group)
- Joining a co-production team to become part of the research team (you will receive training and support in your research role)
- Joining our Young Person’s Advisory Network (YPAN) – this a collection of young people aged 11-25 from across Yorkshire, who meet regularly to discuss and contribute to the research by COMIC
