Dealing with different issues,
managing in different ways

Be a guest on the chat chit podcast

We are looking for people to be involved in Season 4 of chat chit!

Hi everyone,

We’re looking for some new guests to come on chat chit where you’ll be treated to a brew and maybe even a piece of cake, all while chatting to me, James!

About the podcast

We interview a range of people from York and the surrounding areas about their experiences around mental health. The emphasis of the podcast is that we focus on the things that help you, the coping mechanisms, the support as well as anything related, relevant or not to be honest (we can see where it goes)!

Who are we looking for?

  • If you have lived experience of trying to manage your mental health
  • Ideally with it being aimed at younger people we would like you to be 18-30.
  • You can be anonymous

We want everyone to be able to relate or find some hope and solace in the podcast so we are looking for specifically for people who;

  • Have experience being a young carer
  • To be from a minority ethnic group
  • Are a care leaver

We are looking for a range of people so and even if you wouldn’t consider yourself as part of one of these communities, you are still absolutely able to express your interest.

In some cases, for example, if we think doing the podcast will impact you detrimentally then we would hold off on recording a podcast.

How to get involved?

If you would like to chat to me a little bit more about what the podcast entails then drop an email to chatchit@yorkmind.org.uk

The process

  1. Email me
  2. I will contact you to arrange a “pre-chat” about you, your experiences and what the podcast entails
  3. Arrange date for podcast
  4. A brew and a chat (just with microphones recording)
  5. I’ll edit the episode
  6. I’ll send my version to you to check that you are happy with it

You can change your mind at any point or decide you don’t want the podcast to go out.

I love doing the podcast and talking about mental health. I hope other people can take comfort in these episodes and encourage them to get the help they might need, while also normalising having chats about how they’re feeling.

James
