Dealing with different issues,
managing in different ways

Snappy

Snappy is a charity that helps to maximise the development of young people in York who have a wide range of disabilities.

What do they offer?

Thursday Club

This club is an after school club for young people with disabilities, where they can get involved in a range of activities where there are also some snacks included!

This is for young people of all ages!

When? – 3:30pm to 6:00pm – Thursdays during term time

£5 per child

Booking is recommended so email the office@thesnappytrust.org.uk if you want to get involved!

Senior Snappy

They meet every Thursday, where it gives you a chance to get involved in new experiences, have a laugh and joke about with other people that may be the same age as you. It’s completely guided by those who attend so it really does just flow with what the group wants to get up to, so the activities really vary from just having a chill and playing some games to going bowling or going ‘out out’.

When? – Thursdays – 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Who? – 17-25 year olds

Saturday Snappy

There are two separate groups that happen on alternating Saturdays. New experiences, new friends and the chance to have fun is how snappy describes coming to their Saturday group. Anne describes it as great fun and such a good opportunity for those young people who have a disability. From sports to cooking to trips, there are lots of opportunity to do new things.

Who? – There is a group for 5-12 year olds and then the week after would be for the group aged 12-19

When? – Saturdays – 10:00am to 3.30pm

EASTER & SUMMER Programme – All the same details as Saturday Snappy but 10:00am to 3:30pm – Monday to Friday!

Volunteering

Not only do they do things to help those who might have a disability but snappy may give you the ability to do some volunteering yourself.

They already have over 100 volunteers and gives you a chance to maybe get involved and help out in something you may never have considered.

How do you get involved?

To get involved in Senior Snappy or Saturday Snappy email office@thesnappytrust.org and Anne will get back to you about what is going to be best for you.

Whether you are emailing snappy yourself or your parent and guardian is doing so, you will then fill out a profile information form and an “all about me” sheet so Snappy know a little bit more about you before you get involved!

To get involved in volunteering with Snappy you have to be 16+ and fill out the application form which can be found here https://www.thesnappytrust.org/volunteering on their website and send it back to volunteers@snappyyork.co.uk
