York Mind Young People’s Team have developed a service where no referral is needed, just turn up, and come be part of the drop in.

What is the drop in?

The drop-in is not a crisis service or a youth club, but offers a safe space where a young person can go for advice and support, where they feel listened to and helped to find the right support for them in York.

Whether you want to use the space as a Mental Health safe space, or you want to chat to one of the staff or volunteers and learn about some tips and advice that might help you, then we are here.

We won’t have all the answers but we are hear to listen and try guide you to what might help you with your mental health.

When and where is it?  

Mondays outreach drop in  

York Central Explore Library from 3:30pm – 6:30pm until 22nd December 2025.

Thursday Home drop in (Always 4-7pm 

The home drop in will be at York Mind Highcliffe House (See map)

What is on offer?

Drop-in support at different locations improving access to young people across the city.

At the home drop in;

  • Games and crafts
  • Tea and toast
  • Volunteers and staff on hand to help you understand what support there is in York
  • Tips and Advice

At the “Outreach drop in” a member of staff and a volunteer will be there to offer a warm welcome, providing a safe space for you to speak with them , and they can also assist with signposting to relevant support services that you might find useful.

Why might someone attend?   

  • They need some guidance about what support is available to them in York  
  • They are on a waiting list and want to have a informal chat with someone in the interim 
  • They need a safe space or some information on how to manage their mental health 
  • or they might just want to come for a cup of tea, play a game and get used to the environment and staff so that in time they feel comfortable to talk about whatever is going on for them.

Who is it for?  

The mental health drop in will be for anyone aged 14-21 years old (up to 25 years with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)

If you are thinking “My issues aren’t serious enough” remember that we are here at the drop in to support you with however you are feeling and our aim is to be proactive and prevent things from getting worse.

How to access the support?

At the moment no referral is needed, just turn up, fill in a short form and come be part of the drop in.
