Menfulness
York RLFC are delighted to be partners of Menfulness, helping to do away with the stigma of talking about mental health.
These happen on the first Monday of every month (unless it’s a bank holiday and the session is postponed until the following Monday).
The Community Stadium is used to host our sessions in a safe and supportive environment. There’s no obligation to speak until you’re ready, sometimes just listening is enough.
COMMUNITY CLUBS
The foundation also promotes and forms links with local Community Rugby League clubs
The community clubs in York are listed in drop down below, with contact details for each if you want to get involved with what they do.
Here in York, we have two offers for players with disabilities with both Learning and Physical variants having the option to play in fixtures and represent York RLFC Foundation. Please visit https://www.yorkrlfc.com/disabilityrugbyleague for more details.
After the roaring success of last year’s Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup, York RLFC Foundation are delighted to confirm the next series of taster sessions ahead of the 2023 Wheelchair Rugby league season. Following these sessions, we will announce a weekly training session in preparations for playing home and away competitive fixtures.
Widely proclaimed, Wheelchair Rugby League is the most inclusive and accessible variant of Rugby League for all abilities. It is the only Rugby League offer that is wholly inclusive and teams feature wheelchair athletes and non-disabled players. The sport is quite unique in that it offers both disabled and non-disabled players the opportunity to compete both with and against each other.
So, no matter what gender or age players are, everyone compete on a level playing field which is created by the use of wheelchairs and some slight adaptations of the rules of Rugby League.
If you fancy trying it out, please contact contact Dawn on inclusion@yorkrlfc.com or call the York RLFC Office on 01904 670880.
Our Disability Rugby League, Wheelchair Rugby League are currently offering weekly training sessions. Anyone who is interested to please email inclusion@yorkrlfc.com
Turn Up and Play – Social Touch Rugby League
For over a decade, York RLFC have been running different forms of touch rugby proving that this toned-down version of conventional rugby league is an exciting sport that appeals to the masses and can be played regardless of experience, ability, gender or age.
The emphasis of these versions is placed on running, agility, and ball handling. Its strength as a sport is how inclusive the game can be with families taking part alongside ex-players, current players, and players new to the game.
The game is easy to learn, and easy to play with new participants welcomed.
Sessions are priced at £3 per session with participants asked to bring cash on the night.
Details are now confirmed for sessions to resume in 2023 as below:
